Power Commander 3r Cable

:( If the power or ground wire were disconnected while being serviced. The PC would reset to 0 and you need to upload your map to the PC again.:!: Any time you lose the juice or disconnect, reload the map.:? No great mystery there: No Power = No Map! you could install a ups system but hardly worth the effort Ok sounds good, so how would I remap the PCIIIr? I downloaded the.exe but not sure how to launch the file.

What application would I need? I double click the.exe file but was not able to launch. So would I be able to view the map schematics on my desktop or do I have to have a laptop? I know I will need a laptop to remap, but just want to be able to view it first. When I purchased the bike, it didn't come with the cable to attach from a desktop/laptop, so I'm assuming I would be able to view the.exe if I had the cable attach to the PCIIIr or would it not matter. The file extension for PC maps (at least the serial versions) is.map.

You will need to go to the dynojet site OR use the installation CD that came with the PC (I assume that since you don't have the cable, you don't have the CD), and install the powercommander software. This will allow you to view the.map file extensions.

You will also need to download at least one map off of the dynojet site (or wherever else has maps). Once the DJ software is installed, you should only have to double click the map you downloaded and the PC software should get up and running. You NEED to have a map in the DJ software to be able to upload the map from your PCIIIR. I think that is a HUGE design flaw, but regardless, that is the way it works. Once you have the DJ software running AND are connected to your bike with a serial cable (go to radio shack) (confirm connectivity by observing the RPM and TPS readings above the map grid), hit the 'GET ALL' button and wait for your map to be uploaded from your PCIIIR. Save this map to your Hard drive ASAP. I don't think that maps are nearly as fragile and volitile as previously suggested.
