So the HX-D1 And the DRX9255 (it wont be this gold one but silver) Reading on the internet people say there the same but the HX-D1 plays HD-CD and 24bit DAC whilst the 9255 is essentially an MX406 with FF and RW buttons and so has 20bit dac. Who has head both and prefer which. MX406 - I would love an MX406 but where are they?

- Suits my dash perfectly and i get the UK radio frequencies. 9255 - Same as the MX406 but way cheaper and more available. - Would suit my dash but not as well as the Mcintosh. - Get ****** radio frequency expander whcih from experience is shocking. HX-D1 - Uglyiest out of the 3 but i could live with it - Cheap and easily available - Uk radio frequencies??????? So which one would it be from personal opinion.

Clarion DRX9255 has US radio frequencies and I'm not sure if the germans had an 'eu' version which would have UK radio frequencies, just a thought. HX-D1 looks really gash IMHO but you can look at it as an anti theft feature looked at the denon units? Which one in particular for the £500 budget? I checked on ebay and there all silver.

If i could find something like the DCT-100 in black it would be perfect plus is orange illumination would fit my dash orange illumination. I always thought the HX-D1 and DRX were the same unit - apparently not? What are the differences? The DRX certainly offers the best bang per buck, but the Denon beats it hands down on looks. Even the silver/champagne finishes.I can't fault the DRX though, apart from looks and the somewhat dingy chassis.

Which doesn't stand the test of time like the Denons. If you're adding Denons to the list, don't forget the Denfords too. Oww keep me updated when its available.

Denons, Denfords and rockford fosgates all the same? Cant find any on ebay.com.

Plus there all silver. Black is the way forward,Denford is the pet name for the Rockford Fosgate units made by Denon. The 8140 and 8250. Both good units, but the 8250 is more Denon-ish. Denon also made units rebadged as Phoenix Gold - marko has one. These are the top of the range Z1's IIRC.

The Denfords are more A100 level - towards the bottom of the Denon range, but still cracking units and great value for money. I'll keep you posted re: my Clarion mate.

Chas - yes, I'll be doing the double din in the end - found a kit in Aus, although it might have to be shipped there from Japan first - am awaiting further details.
